Rig
Waggler setup
Locked float, bulk around the base, droppers down the line, fine hooklength. The same skeleton covers traditional waggler and, with a dumpy body, pellet waggler.

Pole rig
A dotted pole float, bulk and droppers, a short hooklength, elastic in the top kit. Accuracy is the whole point.
Feeding approach
A pinch of maggot, caster or micros. A dinner plate, not a bed. Overfeeding ends the session.
Where in the swim
They graze and suck. Bubbles, tiny dips, and lifts. Dawn is kinder than a busy afternoon peg.
Common mistakes
Tackle that's too heavy. Striking at nothing. Fishing at range. Expecting F1-style action.
What to change if it isn’t working
No bites: you're too crude or too far out. Dips you miss: lighter float, tell-tale shot, wait a beat.
Tackle for the top method
Traditional waggler
3g insert waggler, bulk around the float, two droppers, size 18 to maggot, fished at dead depth. Feed a dozen maggots every couple of minutes. That will catch roach on most canals and silver lakes.
