A method-style frame with a more open, slower-release mix. Pressured carp and F1s that have seen a thousand flat methods.

A hybrid sits between a flat method and a cage. The mix is wetter and slower, the frame often more open, and the hookbait can sit in a less 'man-made' pile. On pressured commercials it can outfish a classic method once they have learned the dinner plate.
It is still a short hooklength, still a clip, still accuracy. It is not a licence to make soup.
Pressured commercials. Clear water. F1s that mouth and drop a wafer on a flat method.
When a classic method is already catching. A river. A beginner who has not clipped up yet.

A starting point, not a shopping list you have to finish. Match the water in front of you.
10–12ft feeder, 4000 reel, 5–8lb, a feeder or lead that suits the swim.
On the peg
The frame is the feed. Recast to refresh. Do not also pile a bag of groundbait in by hand.
Short hooklength, mix that holds on the frame and breaks down slower than a method ball.
The same island or open-water clip you would method-feed, just quieter.
Bait in the mix or just on top. Short hair. On the deck.
Clip up, put three or four frames on the same plate, wait a little longer than a method.
Clear, bright, pressured. Also a gentle alternative on a natural tench peg.
Load, cast to the clip, wait. If they are mouthing and dropping, this frame plus a smaller bait is the first change, not a new peg. If nothing, they may want a classic method or a bomb.
Starting routine
0–10 min
Get a bait in the water on the line you intend to fish. Do not search the whole venue in ten minutes.
10–30 min
The frame is the feed. Recast to refresh. Do not also pile a bag of groundbait in by hand.
30–60 min
If nothing, change one thing — depth, bait or spot — not three. Read the troubleshooting on this page.
A pull, a drop-back, a dither then weight. Give F1s a second.
Lift into it. Short hooklength has done most of the work.
Net anything with size or spines. Wet hands, unhook, return. A photograph is optional; the fish in the water is not.
Soup. An 18-inch hooklength. Calling any feeder a hybrid.
Mix gone on impact: too wet. Still on the frame: too dry. Taps: smaller bait. Liners: they are up.
Beginner setup
Learn the method feeder first. Then a hybrid frame, damp micros, a small wafer, the same clip.

Change depth, bait or feed before you change peg.
