Rig
A running or clip-on cage, a longer hooklength than a method, and a bait that sits just off the pile of feed.
Tie a simple running feeder: bead, swivel, 50–80cm hooklength. The cage empties; the fish graze; the bait is not buried in the mix. That's the difference from a method rig.
On a river, a slightly heavier cage and a hooklength that can cope with the crease. On a pit, smaller and quieter.
20–40g cage or open-end, running bead, swivel, 50–80cm 0.12–0.16mm hooklength, size 14–18, mainline 5–8lb, groundbait.
Mainline through a bead to a swivel. Feeder on a clip or run ring above the bead. Hooklength looped on. Fill, cast to a clip.
A four-inch method hooklength on a cage. A feeder that never empties. No clip, so every chuck is a new patch.

A mesh or plastic cage of groundbait that empties on the bottom. The natural-water way to hold bream, tench, roach and river fish over a bed.
