Spinners, jigs, shads and crankbaits. Perch, pike, zander and the odd chub — where lure fishing is allowed.
Lure fishing is a method and a bait at once: you cover water, you work a jig or a shad, and a predator hits it. Perch on a small jig is the kindest starting point. Pike want a wire trace. Many commercials ban lures, trebles, or both.
This is not a maggot alternative for a silver lake. It is a way to fish features for hunting fish, with welfare gear in the bag. Check the card for lure bans, single-hook rules, and pike seasons.
Legal & safety
Wire traces for pike and zander. Watch perch spines. Unhooking mat for anything with teeth. Lure bans are real — read them.

Perch around features. Pike and zander where they're present and in season. Canals and drains that allow it.
Autumn and winter shine. Perch will still hit a jig in summer in the shade. Heatwave pike is a no.
Jigged, retrieved, twitched. A light lure rod for perch; something with a backbone for pike. Wire for teeth.
Tie a trace for pike. Check trebles. Pack a net and a mat. That's the preparation.
Feeding
A small box of jigs and a couple of shads is a perch session.
Cast and retrieve. Stay on a feature if you get follows.
Nothing.
A small jig for perch after a worm session on the same feature. A shad for zander at dusk.
You don't feed lures. You cover water.
No wire on pike. Trebles on a lure-ban water. Swinging a pike. Assuming every commercial allows it.
Smaller, slower, or a different feature. If there are no predators, go and fish maggots.
Beginner tip
A 5–7cm jig, a light rod, a lock mouth or an aerator, forceps. Perch first, pike later.
Advanced tip
Follows without takes: drop size, pause longer. Zander often want it slower than you think.
